Our programmes for people depend on horses, and horses depend on us. Many of our horses were rescued from public places or retired from racing. We give them rest, veterinary care and a permanent home, and then, where they are suited and willing, a gentle role in our programmes.
From rescue to a permanent home
- Assessment: a veterinary check of health, soundness and temperament.
- Rehabilitation: rest, treatment, good feed and kind, patient handling.
- Rehoming: a settled place in our stable, with company.
- Gentle work: a role in our programmes only if the horse is fit and suited.
Our welfare promise
We follow recognised animal welfare principles. Horses have rest days, are never worked while unwell, and are retired when they should be. We do not sell or hire out our horses, and we do not use them for entertainment rides.
Please note
We cannot accept every horse, and we do not run an emergency rescue line. If you see an animal in distress, please contact your local animal welfare authority or helpline.
How our programmes connect
Our five areas work together, with horses as partners in each. Explore sport, relief for families, health and wellbeing, rehabilitation and skills and education and leadership, or read about our horses, careers with horses and our founder. To support the work, donate or partner through CSR.
